Tourmaline

Golconda District, Governador Valadares, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil

This striking specimen features more than a dozen slender tourmaline crystals radiating outward from a compact central core, creating a composition that is at once explosive yet remarkably balanced. The crystals display an arresting turquoise blue color of exceptional intensity, reminiscent of glacial ice, and are sharply defined with excellent translucency. Accents of lilac lepidolite provide a beautiful chromatic counterpoint, while the open spacing between the crystals affords excellent isolation, allowing each individual form to be fully appreciated. The result is a vivid and harmonious composition that stands among the finest modern tourmaline specimens from the locality.
