Pink Quartz & Smoky Quartz

Taquaral Seco, Itinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil

True pink quartz is among the rarest and least understood quartz varieties, distinct from the more familiar rose quartz in both origin and habit. Unlike rose quartz, which typically occurs in massive form, pink quartz crystallizes as defined prisms and derives its color from trace-element substitution. Well-formed examples with clarity, luster, and structural definition are exceptionally uncommon and highly prized by advanced collectors.

This striking specimen presents two substantial clusters of sharply defined, translucent pink quartz flanking a central grouping of lustrous smoky quartz crystals. The soft pink tones contrast beautifully with the warm brown hues of the smoky quartz, while the balanced, symmetrical composition gives the piece a sculptural presence. Either pink quartz cluster would be noteworthy on its own; together, they create a cohesive and refined whole, making this a singular and highly desirable example from Minas Gerais.
