Quartz & Fuchsite Phantoms

Itremo Massif, Amoron'i Mania Region, Fianarantsoa Province, Madagascar

This striking specimen from the Itremo Massif in Madagascar features an exceptional cluster of quartz crystals with vivid fuchsite phantoms. Fuchsite, the chromium-rich green variety of muscovite, is relatively common as a mineral but seldom appears with strong crystallization, and only rarely in specimens of this caliber. The piece is composed of dozens of sharply formed, translucent quartz crystals whose icy clarity reveals distinct mint-green fuchsite phantoms suspended within, creating depth and visual complexity throughout the cluster. The consistency of well-terminated crystals, combined with the specimen’s substantial size and cohesive form, results in a composition that is both visually dynamic and highly refined. Its scale, color, and clarity place this example among the finest quartz and fuchsite phantom specimens from the locality.
